Orange Blossom Squares

Square & Round Dance Club

The Villages, Florida

4-17-08

The Orange Blossom Square Dance Club invites all PLUS-LEVEL dancers to join us each Sunday evening. The dances are held in The Villages at the LaHacienda Recreation Center (Map).

We present a program of square and round dances which features both local and national callers (schedule).

We do request traditional square dance attire from October through April, dress is casual May through September, but we certainly welcome travelers and vacationers who may not have this clothing with them.

Our time schedule is 7:00pm to 9:30pm October through April and 7:00pm until 9:00pm May through September.

Although our dances are open to all, club membership and participation in our class programs are limited to residents of The Villages.

Oranges Blossom Squares was established in 1986, and has grown to be one of the largest clubs in Florida, with a constant membership of more than 200.

Promoting Square Dancing

The OBS received a $500 donation from Grand Squares, Inc. to promote square dancing.
The club decided to pass the funds on to the following clubs giving each $100:
Celebrity Squares, Friendly Squares, Oak Run Twirlers, Sunshine Promenaders and Starlight Promenaders.

Special Square Dance

Recently, the Orange Blossom Squares held a Special Anniversary Dance. No, it was not the club anniversary, but an opportunity to recognize twenty-four couples, members of the group, who have been married for fifty or more years and still very involved with square and round dancing and other club activities. Frank and Lee Bardsley hold the longevity title with sixty-four years of togetherness. Rolle and Marian Williams have sixty-one years, followed by Glenn and Bette Ayers and Charles and Alice Bradshaw with fifty-eight. Square dancing is Friendship Set To Music and promotes mental acuity and physical exercise.

The Orange Blossom Specials is a performance group that entertains clubs and organizations in and around The Villages.  Another one of its activities is to bring some joy to the residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the area from Leesburg to Ocala

It isn't just about dancing!  Members also enjoy our Golf Scrambles, Bowling Fests, Community Service Events and our Annual Picnic.

Please browse our website to meet us up close and personal.  Take a peek into the life of the  Orange Blossom Square Dance Club.
